Mediterranean Collective

Showcasing the rich musical heritage of the Eastern Mediterranean, this collective brings together three distinct ensembles. Saltanah is a five-piece group dedicated to the beauty of instrumental Classical Arabo-Ottoman music from the 19th and 20th centuries, performed with authenticity and deep respect for tradition. Estudiantina of Melbourne, a vibrant seven-piece ensemble, revives the sounds of early 20th-century Greece, specialising in the emotive styles of Smyrneika and Rebetiko. Completing the trio is Kismet, a five-piece outfit that blends Turkish, Balkan, and Middle Eastern grooves with lively jazz influences, creating an energetic and contemporary fusion. Together, these acts offer a journey through interconnected musical cultures, from archival traditions to modern reinterpretations
